How to Avoid Wedgies in Your Gymnastics Leotard
Posted by on
The dreaded leotard "wedgie" is the bane of every gymnast's existence.
The good news is, there are a number of tried and true remedies that can help you manage this unpleasant intrusion.
Body Adhesive
Many gymnasts use a body adhesive to keep their leotards from riding up.
Make sure the body adhesive is skin-safe to avoid skin irritation or damage to your leotard.
Most body adhesives come with roll on applicators for easy application.
Nastia Liukin, the all-around gold medalist at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, once told People Magazine that some gymnasts use an adhesive spray called Tuf-Skin to hold their leotards in place.
Wig Tape
Hollywood stylists have used this little secret for decades to keep plunging necklines from becoming embarrassing wardrobe malfunctions.
Wig tape comes in a handy tape dispenser and can be easily applied to one's posterior.
When the leotard is pulled up, the skin sticks to the tape.
Matching Briefs
This solution will keep your leotard in place and also give you coverage if the leotard starts to ride up.
Tights
Dancers often wear tights under their leotards.
Tights create a fabric barrier against the skin which keep the leotard from riding up.
