Can Leotards Be Used For Swimming?

Leotards may look like one-piece swim suits, but they were never designed to withstand water.

Spandex leotards simply cannot withstand full submersion in chlorinated or salt water.

Furthermore, the harsh chemicals found in most swimming pools may dissolve the stitching or bleach the fabric of the leotard.

So, if your gymnast or dancer wants to wear her leotard as a swimsuit, please advise her not to.
